For children in Prek through 5th grade...

For one week sessions during the summer, kids will be able to explore the "land of make-believe" to their heart's content. We offer full and half day camps for different age groups where active and imaginative children have fun exploring the world of the imagination. They try on costumes, pretend to be different characters from fairy tales, mythology, books, movies, TV shows and dreams, play exciting theater games, improvise familiar and unusual scenes, engage in story-telling, learn to use their voices and bodies in expressive ways, do yoga, explore set design and art, collaborate with their peers, direct each other, learn about stage craft and stage combat, sing and do musical skits, create stories with puppetry, learn about the audition process and perform, perform, perform! There are many informal performance opportunities available to all campers during each camp day.  Our philosophy is that the more kids have the chance to perform for each other in a safe, supportive environment, the more comfortable they become in making creative decisions and in being on stage. Generally, within one day even the most reticent children lose their inhibitions!

Doris Seiden, the director of the Creative Drama Camps has been working with young actors for over 30 years and really understands how to inspire them.  This camp is unique in that it focuses on the PROCESS of performing as opposed to overly concentrating on a final performance.  Kids really learn how to create dramatic pieces using many sources of inspiration including music, literature and poetry.  Drama Camp kids make lasting friendships and performing boosts their confidence level.  There is no pressure to perform.  We lovingly encourage all participants to experience the joy of Creative Drama. There will be an informal end-of-session performance for parents and friends of the older children and all parents are invited to stop by at any time during camp to see their children in action.
